Amanda was the tenth of eleven children. She married Charles Moyer in Luzerne County on March 22, 1890. The ceremony was performed by M. E. Walker, Justice of the Peace. The couple had ten children: Henry (who died as an infant), Charles, Flora, Otto, twin girls Ordry and Ordra, Lester, Ronald, Dorothy, and another child who died before the 1900 census.
