Married: May 21, 1913 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church, Fostoria, Ohio; recorded in Seneca County, Ohio, June 13, 1913

In August 1914, Mary underwent a "most serious" abdominal surgery, taking place on a Sunday with three physicians in attendance. The Wellsville Daily Reporter expressed a great deal of concern in the community for Mary's recovery.

She was a partner with her two brothers in Onsel Brothers Inc., first an oil drilling business and then a plumbing, heating and water well supplies business. She would join her husband and brothers on oil scouting trips to Kentucky and would snap photos of them at work. She retired from the business in 1957.

Mary was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephew in Risingsun, and she carried on a correspondence with each of them as they grew. Visits with her and Uncle Matt were always relished. Photos show her piano in the dining room of her brother's home, where the children learned to play.

She was a member of St. Wendelin's Church, Fostoria, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Pall bearers were John Seiple, Norman Asmus, Robert Zeigman, Ted Lesniak, Edward Onsel Jr., and Edward Deer.
