Sara Willa Webb was one of ten children born from the union of Lee Hampton Webb II (1864-1912) and Sarah Willa Gatlin (1867-1943), both natives of Georgia in Cordele, Georgia. She is the young girl sitting on her father's knee in the photo to the left of this memorial. Her father, who had gone from being a Farmer to a Merchant, died when she was just nine years of age. Her mother never remarried, living until 1943, but young Sara's brothers helped support their mother; John Howard Webb was a bank teller, Leon R. Webb (Robert Leon Webb, Sr.) was a salesman and Violet was in school when the 1920 Census was taken. In 1930, both sons had married, but Robert Leon lived adjacent with his wife, and Violet still lived at home. Violet did eventually marry, and as of 1940, Sarah was renting out four rooms and her sister-in-law, Maude Cannon, also a widow, was also in the family's home. When Sarah died in August of 1943, she was laid to rest with her dear husband, Lee Hampton Webb II in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp Co., Georgia.
During this time, Sara Willa Webb married Thomas Jennings Pinson (1903-1962) on September 4th, 1923 at the !st Methodist Church, Cordele, Georgia. The couple relocated to Florida and this is where their 1st child, a daughter named Willa, was born in about 1926. When the 1930 Census was taken on Apr 7, 1930, the young family was living on a farm in Worth County, Georgia, valued at $40,000. Also, a son was stillborn on November 14, 1930 and buried at . In about 1934, the family was living in Georgia, as a daughter, Agnes, also known as "Aggie" was born there. The growing family then moved to Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, which is where young Thomas Jennings Pinson II was born on January 7, 1935. As of 1940, when the census was taken, Thomas Senior was a furniture salesman in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tragically, Sara Willa Pinson died within a month of her 39th birthday, following a terrible bicycle accident after she ran into a street car while riding the bicycle, on August 28th, 1942. Her injuries were severe and, after being in the hospital for just a few days, she developed pneumonia as she couldn't cough or take deep breaths and the fluids built up in her lungs. She died on August 31st, 1942, leaving her husband, Thomas Jennings Pinson II, and their three children to mourn her loss, as well as all who knew and loved her.
Her husband, born in Oct 1902, died at the age of 58 years, in May, 1962.

I appreciate the information that was sent to me following my return home after my own car accident (I believe it was from Brenda Darbyshire, the same person who created this memorial).

I located a Pinson relative in June 2016 and heard back from her this past June. She is the paternal granddaughter of Thomas and Willa Pinson, the daughter of Thomas J. Pinson II, and the sister of Thomas J. Pinson III. Thomas Pinson II passed away Sep 29, 2016. Agnes Pinson, her aunt, is still alive, last name is now Broker; Agnes's sister, Willa, has also passed away. I appreciate the information and am grateful to be able to link my grand aunt to her husband and infant son, along with her parents and other relatives.
