Emil Lehto was born in Urness Township on July 20, 1906, the son of Isaac and Selma Makkonen Lehto. Emil spent his entire life in Urness Township where he was engaged in farming.

He passed away at his home in Urness Township on Friday, July 28, 1978 at the age of 72 years. Surviving are three sisters and four brothers: Katherine of Brandon; Alice Penn of Imperial Beach, California; Ida Soukup of Cicero, Illinois; Jack of Mound City, Kansas; Peter of Huntington Beach, California; Ben and Alfred of Brandon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 2, 1978 at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, Minn., Rev. M. Lundeen officiating. Interment was at the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery, Moe Township. Pallbearers were Marvin Kangas, Walmer Lander, Alex Haabala, Wesley Siira, Archie Haabala and Ervin Gunderson.
