Found in The State 28 April 1929: A. Gamewell LaMotte, 61, died at 4:15 yesterday afternoon at a local hospital. Mr. LaMotte had lived in Columbia practically his entire lifetime. His many friends will regret to learn of his passing. He had been ill a long time.
Found in The State 29 April 1929: A. Gamewell LaMotte, who died at a local hospital Saturday afternoon, will be buried at Elmwood cemetery Tuesday following services at Dunbar Funeral home at 11 o'clock. Mr. LaMotte had lived in Columbia most of his life and had many friends in the city. The Rev. R. A. Lapsley, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will be in charge of the service, and will be assisted by the Rev. A. L. Gunter, the Rev. A. N. Brunson.
