Jacob Frank Oliver Jr., 89, of Columbia passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, at First Christian Church in Columbia with Dr. John Yonker officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to time of services Sunday at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The fourth of seven children, Frank was born on Oct. 16, 1920, to Jacob Frank Oliver Sr. and Mary F. Allton Oliver.
He attended Columbia Public Schools, graduating from Hickman High School in 1938.
He was employed by the Columbia Daily Tribune, the Columbia Missourian, Stephens Publishing Co., A.B. Chance, American Press and MFA, from which he retired in 1982.
Frank was a longtime member of First Christian Church, where he was a deacon and board member for Woodhaven Christian Home for Exceptional Children.
He belonged to the Twilight Masonic Lodge and was active in the Columbia Rotary Club.
Frank was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and staunch supporter of the University of Missouri football team.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, J. Harold Oliver, Charles Edward Oliver, William Owen Oliver and Richard Earl Oliver; and one sister, Mary Frances Kuhlman. He is survived by one brother, Jack Eldon Oliver; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
