Daughter of Joseph William and Mildred Annette Grissette Holliday, wife of John Edmunds Coles, II.

CONWAY - Mrs. Winnifred "Winnie" Holliday Coles, 94, widow of John Edmund Coles, died Friday.

Born in Horry County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph William and Annette Grissette Holliday. She was a graduate of Burroughs High School in 1910 and attended Limestone College. She was a 1915 graduate of Coker College.

She was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church in Conway, where she was active in the primary department, was president of the church WMU, was circle leader for many years and a member of the Olvie Williams Sunday School class.

She was the last surviving charter member of the Peter Horry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Azalea Garden Club. She was active in the Red Cross during World Wars I and II and was a member of the Horry County Historical Society.

Surviving are a son, John E. Coles of Conway; a daughter, Miss Annette Coles of Conway; and a sister, Mrs. Nettie M. Adams of Pamplico.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
