Mr. Coles was born in Conway, the son of the late John Edmunds and Winifred Holliday Coles.
He was a graduate of Conway High School, The Citadel in 1954.
Mr. Coles was a US Army Veteran. He went into Banking for a number of years and then into the Farm Credit System until his retirement.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, Jean Coles of Murrells Inlet; two daughters, Elizabeth "Buff" Coles of Charleston and Harriett Coles Crockard (Paul) of Birmingham, AL; two grandsons, Porter and John Crockard.
He was predeceased by one sister, Annette Coles.
A graveside service will be held 4:00 PM, August 18, 2012, at Lakeside Cemetery with Rev. Harold Lewis officiating.
