Charles Beecher Bohannon

COOKEVILLE -- Graveside services for Charles Beecher Bohannon, 89, of the Calfkiller community of Putnam County, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, July 24, at Bohannon Cemetery in the Calfkiller community.

Mr. Bohannon died Friday, July 22, 2011, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in White County to the late David Officer and Cecil Bartlett Bohannon.

Mr. Bohannon served in the Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and was known as a hard- working man. He was a member of Big Springs Church of Christ and the American Legion.

His family includes his wife of 64 years, Mattie Pearl Stewart Bohannon (whom he married May 20, 1947, in Rossville, Ga.); a son and daughter-in-law, Myles and Charlotte Bohannon of Sparta; a brother, David Earl Bohannon of Cookeville; a sister, Marie Officer of Hermitage; a granddaughter and her husband, Constance and Louie Medley of Smithville; a great-grandson, Mason Medley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Bohannon; a sister, Agnes Goff; and a grandson, David Kelly Bohannon.

Memorial donations may be made to Bohannon Cemetery, c/o Marson McCormick, 1715 Harristown Road, Monterey, TN 38570.

Bro. John Lawson will officiate at the services.
