Anson Badley, one of eight children of James and Rosetta Badley, was born on July 27, 1871, near Roseburg, in Sanilac county, Michigan. His early years were spent in Michigan where he received his education. In 1895 he left Michigan to travel westward and settled in Eagle Grove, where he has since made his home. He secured employment with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and remained continuously in the service of this company for 43 years, taking his pension in 1938, at the age of 65.

After establishing his residence here, he returned to Michigan to marry Miss Agnes Avery on June 17, 1896, and brought her to Eagle Grove as his bride. Peace and contentment filled their home and they were blest with 56 years of happiness together.

Mr. and Mrs. Badley are the parents of three children: Percy A. of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mildred, Mrs. Floyd Bell of Cedar Rapids, and Bruce L. of Lander, Wyoming.

Mr. Badley passed away at his home on April 17, 1953 at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 21 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, and three children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is survived also by one brother, Jesse Badleyof Moose Jaw, Sask., Canada, and one sister, Mrs. Lydia McVicker of Eagle Grove, who was raised in their home.
