Obituary: Marion [Kansas] County Record; Thursday, May 9, 1963; Page 6; "Scharenberg Services On Monday"

Born in the Youngtown community of Grant Township in Marion County, she and her family endured many of the hazards of pioneer prairie life. She lived in and around Marion for her entire life.

She was a loyal member of the Evangelical church at Youngtown, and was active in the church school and missionary society work for years. She served as president of the society for many years and taught classes in the church school. She was a member of the E.U.B. church in Marion.

In 1942 the couple moved to Marion, where she lived until the time of her death. The last four years of her life she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Mabel, who made her home with her mother. In the fall of 1962 her other daughter, Edith left her home in Ottawa in order to be here to help care for her mother also. Together the girls made the months easier for their mother, with the help of the rest of the family.

She enjoyed many friends and neighbors and was appreciative of the many acts of kindness shown her.
