Daisy Maxine Ballard, 83, of Ogallala, passed away on December 22, 2013 at the Sutherland Care Center.

She was born on August 8, 1930 at Shelbyville, Missouri, the daughter of Randall and Clara (Nolte) Mahaffey at Shelbyville, MO. She attended schools in Shelbyville and graduated from high school.

Daisy married her high school sweetheart Ray "Shorty" Ballard in 1947. The couple moved to Ogallala and made their home.

Daisy worked at Goodalls and later at TRW in quality control, retiring in 1993. Her hobbies included doing volunteer work, tending to her yard and flowers, and being with her friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, and two brothers John Mahaffey and Kenneth Mahaffey.

Survivors include her daughter Sheila Ballard of Ogallala, NE; grandson - Tad Ballard of Fort Collins, CO; 7 Brothers - Herb Mahaffey , Joe Mahaffey, Harold (Louise) Mahaffey and Paul Mahaffey, Ted Mahaffey, and Danny (Bev) Mahaffey, all of Shelbyville, MO; and Jim (Judy) Mahaffey of Conroe, TX. Three sisters : Winnifred (John) Grable of Clinton, MO, Evelyn Brown of Macon, MO, and Francie Stewart of Olathe, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. There will be private family graveside rites at a later date.

Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangments.
