Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Compton Finney Cassady, 67, of Ashland, a retired post office clerk, who died Monday at 6:45 a.m. at the residence, 2248 Central Avenue, were conducted Wednesday, at 2:30 p.m. from the Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. E.L. Tullis officiating. Burial followed in the Buchanan Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Cassady retired in 1960 after 23 years employment in the Ashland Post Office. She had previously taught school in Ashland and rural Boyd County. Mrs. Cassady was born January 30,1 896, in Buchanan, a daughter of the late Joe and Florence West Compton, and had resided in Ashland for 40 years. She attended the former Kentucky Normal College in Louisa and Marshall University. She was a member of the First Methodist Church. Survivors include the husband, Marvin Cassady, one daughter, Mrs. Glenn Montgomery of Arlington, VA, two sons, Harold C. Finney of Ashland and Joe E. Finney of Lexington; one brother, Homer Compton of Ashland and four grandchildren. She was a first cousin of E. L. Compton of Louisa. Big Sandy News, March 28, 1963
