The Date of Birth for Robert appears from more compelling census sources to be in the year 1843. Although the headstone inscription and two obituaries used the year 1847, that was most likely an error in the submitted obituary text and an engraving error (neither of which were uncommon in the early 1900's; inscription errors nearly impossible to undo without damage to a monument). The census and years married in the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census reports, and other documents, clearly favor the January 20, 1843 DOB.
