Survivors at the time of his death included his wife, Geneva Sturgill Castle (now passed), whom he married on December 3, 1938; five sons, five daughters, Additional survivors included three grandchildren; five brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 9 in the Barnetts Creek United Baptist Church with Arnold Reed and F. F. Rigsby the officiating ministers.
***NOTE***
James' obituary states that he was interred in the Salyer Cemetery/Barnett's Creek. However, his headstone is at Johnson County Memorial Cemetery. There have been a number of reburials from other cemeteries here. Whether or not that's the case in this instance, I don't know, but he shares a headstone with his wife, Geneva, at JCMC.
