Retired miner, John Castle, 84, died Tuesday, Dec 12, in Methodist Hospital, Pikeville. Mr. Castle was born Nov 1, 1905 in Morgan County, the son of Chilt and Belle Curtis Castle. He was retired from Island Creek Coal Company, a member of the United Baptist Church and a member of Odd Fellows Lodge for 60 years. Surviving are his wife, Alka Trimble Castle; four sons, Ernest Ray Castle, of Leveland, TX, Willis Castle of Red Bush, William Albert of Hendersonville, TN, and Charles Mickey Castle, of Bonnersferry, ID; two daughters, Rebecca Fyffe of Fairborn, OH, and Judy Ferguson of Red Bush, three brothers, Jayole Castle of Staffordsville, Wayne Castle of Catlettsburg and Lundy Castle of Brandywine, MD; 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec 15, in Peaceful Valley United Baptist Church at Fuget, with Elders Eual McKenzie and Paul E. Keaton officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Red Bush, with Paintsville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, Dec 20, 1989
