He enlisted in the Navy April 6, 1944 when one son Roger was already in the service and another son, Paul, was entering. He served for eight months in the Pacific aboard the USS Shaula. He owned and operated the Cartage Airport and the Thesier Flying School as well as the Thesier Farm.
He died of a heart attack while tapping maple trees.
