Amariah Harris was born in 1750, the fifth and youngest son of Thomas and Sarah (Dayton) Harris of Fairfield Township, Cumberland County. He died there 28MAR1793 in his 43rd year, and was buried in the Presbyterian "Old Stone" Churchyard, with a gravestone marker. He married Mary Lawrence, who was born in April, 1756, the daughter of Jonathan and Aibigail (Ogden) Lawrence of Fairfield, and she died 22MAR1815 (aged 58yrs 11 mo).
Amariah served as a Lieutenant of the Cumberland County Militia during the War for Independence.
