She was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to the late Jesse James and Winnie Pearl Ware Aaron. Frances was a homemaker and a member of the Truett Memorial Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Hayesville Ladies Auxiliary.
Frances was one of 16 children and accomplished many extraordinary things in her life. At the age of 16, she traveled to New York to work for Professor David Dodd (Columbia University) and his family. In 1943, she moved to Atlanta to work at Bell Aircraft on the B-29 airplanes. There she met Charlie Roberts and they married in 1945. Frances and Charlie moved to Hayesville in 1973. Frances had a successful clothing business in Hayesville for a number of years. In her retirement years, she spent many hours making quilts with several quilting ministries. This was her passion; giving warmth to those who needed it. Frances was a member of the Truett Memorial Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Hayesville Ladies Auxiliary. She had a special place in her heart for Veterans and their spouses.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Roberts and second husband, Albert (Jack) Gruenert; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, David C. Roberts and J.D. Roberts, Joan Kappers and Terri Thompson; brothers, sisters, grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Johnny Foster will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Hill Cemetery. Our local V.F.W. will serve as pallbearers.
