Born September 14, 1878 in Koleen, she was the daughter of Joseph and Clara (HARDESTY) WHITWORTH. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph W., of Michigan, Charles A., of California, and Chester “Ted,” of Illinois; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Clela) Florence LARROWE, of Maine, Mrs. Frank (Lois) ALEXANDER, of Goshen, and Mrs. Robert (Maxine) HURD, of Bedford, with whom she had made her home during the past eight years; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William (Artie) OVERMAN, of Dugger; and three step children, Mrs. Warren (Vollie) BRANSTETTER, of Sullivan, Mrs. Ward (Hallie) HUGHES, of Louisiana, and Carter ASHCRAFT, of Ohio. One grandchild is movie actor, Richard CHAMBERLAIN.
She was preceded in death by the husbands, William CHAMBERLAIN in 1951 and E. Kirby ASHCRAFT in 1967, and two step children.
Memorial services will be conducted at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and a time will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Bloomfield church.
