Abner Franklin, 78, of Sumiton died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Bell-Sumiton Chapel with burial at Goodhope Cemetery in Sayre. The Revs. James Hockingsmith and Lane Sargent will officiate. Bell Funeral Home of Sumiton will direct.

He was a veteran of World War II and retired from U.S. Steel. He was a member of Sumiton Church of God.

He is survived by two sons, David and his wife, Dianne Franklin of Sumiton and Buddy and his wife, Karen Franklin of Dora; stepdaughter, Patricia Sullivan of Sumiton; three sisters, Mary Ann Self of Curry, Betty Eady of Sumiton and Nell Rogers of Graysville; four grandchildren, Adam Franklin, Alex Harvill, Allen Davis and Bradley Davis; great-grandson, Cody Davis; and friend, Buck Vaughn of Sumiton.
