Ernest E. Sandburg, 68, of 536 22nd St., Rock Island, died yesterday at Franciscan Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Wheelan Funeral Home. The Rev. Edward P. Nelson, former pastor of First Lutheran church, Rock Island, will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mr. Sandburg was born Jan. 4, 1908, in Galesburg, the son of John F. and Anna Olson Sandburg.
He was formerly employed at American Container Co., and later at Bear Manufacturing.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Rock Island Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are a son, Richard, Coal Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Peterson, Villa Park, and Mrs. Alice Lyons, Rock Island, and a brother, Oscar, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by a sister.
