Loretta L. Gotter, age 94, of Manitowoc, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Loretta was born September 22, 1919 in Rantoul, daughter of the late Leon and Alma (Olm) Laack. On September 7, 1937, Loretta married Edgar A. Gotter in Rantoul. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1972. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. As a young lady of fifteen, Loretta sang Country Western music at the local dances and on WOMT. She sang with the Sunset Valley Boys and she was their Red River Gal. She was invited to audition for a Nashville station that encouraged her to pursue her singing there, but her parents thought she was too young. She continued her singing locally and won many contests. Loretta was devoted to her family and friends. She worked for many years as a head cook at the Savoy Restaurant, and later worked at the Holy Family Memorial Hospital in housekeeping. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to go to Europe as well as many places in the United States.

Survivors include three children: Stan (Elaine) Gotter, Manitowoc; Connie Augustine, Manitowoc; Debbie (Jim) Wochos, Two Rivers; seven grandchildren: Anthony (Lauren) Gotter, PhDs, PA; Tina (Matt) Michel, Madison; Ron Augustine and his fiancé: Lori, Appleton; Sarah (Lewis) Judkins, Manitowoc; Daniel Wochos, Two Rivers; Jessica (Chuck) Anderson, Oshkosh; Eastin (Heather) Juul, Manitowoc; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Ruth Cavanaugh, Appleton; one sister-in-law: Caroline Jentch, Potter, nieces, nephews, and further survived by Kevin (Linda) Juul, Two Rivers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Edgar; two infant children; daughter: Wendy Juul; one grandchild and one great grandchild; son-in-law: Dale Augustine; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond (Mabel) Laack; Edwin (Dorothy) Laack; Harry (Eleanor) Laack; Reuben (Violet) Laack; one sister and brother-in-law: Esther (Lawrence) Trianna; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Lenora (Wilbert) Paul; Clarence (Gladys) Gotter; Charlie (Doris) Gotter; Clarence Jentch.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 2601 South 10th Street. Rev. Brian Staude will officiate. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at Potter Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Gotter Family with funeral arrangements.
