John was born August 14, 1918 in Sheboygan, son of the late Gottlieb and Mary (Weimann) Kunstmann. He served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army during WWII. On April 6, 1941 John married Lucille Schneider in Green Bay. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2010. He was employed with Mirro Aluminum until retirement. John enjoyed softball, was a member of a bowling team, fishing, deer hunting, snowmobiling, winters in Florida, summers at Chaudoir's Dock, playing sheepshead and cribbage.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law: Jonna (Joe) Markvart, Maribel; Jolene (Bucky) Haese, Cato; Joy (Roger) Konop, Stangelville; Joan (Andrew Jr.) Konitzer, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: John (Pamarie) Kunstmann, Sheboygan Falls; six granddaughters, 10 grandsons, 12 great granddaughters, 20 great grandsons, one great-great granddaughter, five great-great grandsons, three step granddaughters, three step grandsons, one step great grandaughter, two step great grandsons, one brother: Emil (Irene) Kunstmann, Two Rivers; one sister: Pauline Kornely, Two Rivers; two sisters-in-law: Joyce Kunstmann, FL; and Marion Kunstmann, Rockwood.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Denese Rohr; one grandson, Richard Konop;one great-great grandson: AJ Russell; four brothers: infant brother, Gottlieb, Gottlieb (Irene) Kunstmann, Adolph Kunstmann, Elmer Kunstmann; four sisters: Emily (Chris) Kober, Frieda (Louis) Ney, Clara (Ivan) Reynolds, Marie (Melvin) Hoppe; two brothers-in-law: Leslie Retzlaff and Ray Kornely; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harry and Alma Schneider; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Roma and Louis Burkel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at St. John-St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Timothy Nommensen. Cremation will follow at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, town of Kossuth at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, May 9, 2014 at St. John-St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
