"Mrs. Flora J. Olmstead, aged 55, of Bowerstown, died Wednesday morning, December 9, in the family home, where she had been ill for several months. Her home was in Maryland, N. Y. Mrs. Olmstead was born October 23, 1909, near Lithonia, Ga., the daughter of Floyd N. and Josephine (Lee) Cooper. She was married to William Silvernail in 1930, of South Worcester. In 1954, she was married to Richard Olmstead of Cooperstown. Mrs. Olmstead was graduated from Cooperstown High School in the Class of 1927 and the Oneonta State Normal School in 1933. In 1959, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from State University College at Oneonta. She had also done graduate work at Syracuse University during summer sessions. During the years, she taught in Otsego and Delaware County schools as well as at Oxford, where she was employed at the time of her death. She was a member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club of Oxford and various teacher's organizations. Surviving are two sons, Marshall C. Olmstead of Dixon, Calif., and Victor Olmstead, at home, two daughters, Mrs. Norma Allen of Harpersville and Miss Jaqueline Silvernail, at home; five brothers, James W. Cooper of Robertsdale, Ala., the Rev. F. Newton Cooper of Sayre, Pa., A. Lee Cooper of Rochester, Russell H. Cooper of Bowerstown, and L. Paul Cooper of Rochester; 15 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Saturday, December 12, in the Milford Methodist Church, with the Rev.
