Funeral rites for E. M. Hayes, 90, were held Wednesday, July 3, at Wallace and Second Street Church of Christ, conducted by Brother Silas Howell and Brother Paul Price. Burial was made in Wallace Creek Cemetery.

A retired stock farmer, he died Monday, July 1, at the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Ted Hall, with whom he had made his home the past fourteen years. He was born October 20, 1872, the son of A. A. Hayes and Louiza Thurman Hayes in Giles County, Tennessee. He came to San Saba in 1911. He married Marietta (Etta) Sullivan on February 7, 1896, in Limestone County, Texas. She died April 21, 1948.

He had been a member of the Church of Christ for the past sixty years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. H. Smithhart. Mrs. B. T. Roberds and Mrs Ted Hall; five sons, E. T., B. F., Modie, Herman and Loman Hayes; one brother, Clyde Hayes; one sister, Mrs Osborne Mullins; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three children, his parents and several siblings.
