James Lowell Hundley, 79, of Horton, KS, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Hickory Pointe Care and Rehabilitation Center at Oskaloosa, KS. He was born February 4, 1935 to William (Clay) and Elizabeth (Pearl) Moore Hundley, of Horton, KS, the fourth of eight children. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1953. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University.

Jim married Shirley Marsh on May 26, 1956 in Manhattan, KS. This union was blessed with six children, Debbie, Sandra, Brenda, Cheryl, Darryl and Melanie.

Jim dedicated his entire life to youth and education. He taught vocational agriculture for 33 years at six high schools in Kansas. They were Meriden-Jefferson West, Blue Valley-Randolph, Topeka-Seaman, Atchison County, Troy, and Colby. In addition to his teaching career, he was a farmer, a realtor and worked in building trades.

Jim and Shirley were also House Parents for several years at the United Methodist Youthville Group Home in Dodge City, KS. He eventually returned to his roots of a dairy
farm by working for Holste Homestead Dairy of Ludell, KS.

His greatest joys in life were his faith, his family and the farm or agriculture. He led by example in every aspect of his life. He was a lifelong member of the United
Methodist Church, the Kansas Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association, the National Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association and the FFA Alumni. He was either at a 4-H, FFA, K-State or a family event/reunion with a camera in his hand. Jim devoted his life to developing and nurturing his own kids, grandkids, students and other youth. He was a
Lay Minister, Sunday School Teacher, 4-H Leader and FFA Advisor.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

Along with six children, his legacy will live on through his 19 grandchildren and 6 great-
grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Pearl Hundley.Survivors include: wife Shirley Hundley, Horton, KS; daughter: Debbie and husband Ed
Poe, Oakley, KS; daughter: Sandra and husband Don Wick, Smith Center, KS; daughter: Brenda and husband Mark Wolters, Atwood, KS; daughter: Cheryl and husband Gene Soderlund, Oberlin, KS; son: Darryl, Muscotah, KS; daughter: Melanie and husband Michael Musselman, Clifton, KS
Grandchildren: Craig Poe and wife Lindsay; David Poe and wife Chris; Diane and husband Aaron Traffas; Holly and husband Luke Van Skike; Caleb Wick and fiancé Ashley; Calee
Wick and fiancé Michael Boller; Emily and husband Mark Rotert; Laura and husband Drew Basgall; Kevin and Abbey Wolters; Dakota and Cheyanne Soderlund; Riley, Ramsey
and Raven Hundley; Michaela, Luke, Lane and Levi Musselman.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Horton, KS with Pastor Caren Loper officiating. The family will greet friends
Friday evening at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Funeral Home in Horton, KS.

Burial will be in Wheatland Cemetery, rural Horton, KS. A memorial will be established in

his name to be divided among Horton United Methodist Church, Wheatland Cemetery, Kansas FFA, and Atchison County 4-H.
