Elmer J. Bastian, 52, of 807 Lowell St., Two Rivers, a long-time Mirro Aluminum Co. employe and for years a member of the board of directors of the Mirro Employes Credit Union, died unexpectedly of a heart attack en route to Two Rivers Municipal Hospital at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Klein and Stangel, Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, the Rev. R. Thomas Peeters officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Bastian was born June 13, 1917, at Luxemburg, a son of the late James and Alice Prudhomme Bastian. When he was eight his family brought him to Two Rivers. He married the former Esther Reuther at Francis Creek July 28, 1941. She preceded him in death July 11, 1968. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He had been a Mirro firm employe for many years after earlier employment at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Corp.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Ann at home; a son, Roger, of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Eucher of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. John Sleger of Manitowoc; three brothers, Edgar and Donald of Manitowoc and Roland of Houston, Tex., and two grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday where memorial services will be at 8 p.m.
