Agnew was born in Henry County to Elder James T. Agnew Sr. and Mary Sue Hairston Agnew. His parents preceded him in death.
He had been pastor of Mount Bethel Holiness Church for 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia C. Agnew of Fieldale; a son, Russell L. Agnew of Madison Heights; a daughter, Gloria A. Lovell of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Franklin Agnew of Fieldale and Elder Bobby Agnew of Martinsville; two sisters, Patricia Ann Wimbush of Bassett and Gwendolyn Moore of Greensboro, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
Hairston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
