Minnie I. Melton, 94, of Little York, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 1990, at Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth.
She was born March 2, 1896, in Elizabeth, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Lelia [Evans] Bryant. She was reared and educated in Indiana.
Minnie married Ora L. Melton in New Middletown, Indiana, on February 17, 1916. They moved to Illinois in 1917 and farmed in the Duck Creek area until retiring in 1983. Ora preceded her in death on August 13, 1985.
She was affiliated with the Little York United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Quilting and fancy work were her hobbies.
Surviving are three sons, Murl Melton of Lakeland, Florida, Herbert [Dutch] Melton of Little York and Jerry Melton of Seaton; four daughters, Mrs. Fred [Lelia] Olson of Seaton, Mrs. Deen [Mary] Lincoln of Avon, Dorothy Miller of Salida, Colorado, and Mrs. Ed [Sarah] Burns of Monmouth; 28 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; one sister Sarah Luther of Paoli, Indiana, along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three grandchildren, one great-grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hoover Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, with Rev. Stanley Rapp of Fairview Center United Methodist Church and Rev. Chester Chandler of Monmouth.
Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home. Her family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be left for the Little York Methodist Church or F Wing of Community Memorial Hospital.
