CEDAR VALE, Kan. — Dorothy Wynona Melton Miller, 80, Cedar Vale, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kan.
She was born June 29, 1929 in Little York, the daughter of Ora and Minnie Bryant Melton. She attended Duck Creek School in Mercer County.
She married Donald Miller, of Fowler, Colo., Jan. 4, 1951 at her parents' home. They moved to Colorado, where she was a homemaker. He died in 1986.
She moved to Cedar Vale, Kan. in 1997, where she attended the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Smith, Cedar Vale, and Judy (Faron) Collins, Winslow, Ark.; two sons, Dwight (Tammy) Miller and Dwayne Miller, Cedar Vale; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lelia Olson, Mary Lincoln and Sarah (Edward) Burns, all of Monmouth; two sisters-in-law, Helen Melton, Little York, and Virginia Melton, Seaton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; brothers Murl (Mabel), Dutch and Jerry Melton; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Cremation was accorded with burial at a later date in Fowler, Colo. A memorial service took place Sunday, Sept. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Memorials were to the Dorothy W. Miller Music Scholarship.
