Earl Cherney, 51, of 1801 Marshall St., Manitowoc, died early Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc, with the Rev. Theodore P. Crusius officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Garden, Town of Kossuth.

Mr. Cherney was born April 29, 1911, at Kellnersville, son of Vincent and Adelaide Bonin Cherney. He attended grade school at Branch, was graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1929 and Manitowoc County Normal School. He taught school three years in the Mishicot area. Later he became associated with the Harris Radio Shop. Manitowoc, for a time and then left to attend Milwaukee Engineering School.

He returned to the Harris Radio Shop and in 1946 formed partnership in the shop until October of last year when he moved to his present address. He was an electronic supply distributor in the Manitowoc area.

He married Lucille Enz Jan. 31, 1941, at Denmark. He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ and an elder of that church, was a member of Manitowoc Masonic Lodge 65, F and A.M., Chapter 16, R.A.M. Council 18, R. and S.M., Manitowoc Commandary 45, Knights of Templar, Scottish Rites, 32nd degree Mason, Tripoli Temple Shrine of Milwaukee and the Manitowoc - Two Rivers Shrine Club. He was also a member of the National Electronic Distributor's Assn.

Surviving are his wife and son, Dale, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Cherney, of Manitowoc, two brothers, Howard, of Francis Creek and Allan, of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Fred Steinbrecker, of Racine and nieces and nephews. An infant son preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be moved to the church and the body will lie in state until time of service. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church.
