Funeral services for Milton A. Geick, 74, of Rosenberg, a long-time Rosenberg businessman, are set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Rosenberg, with the Dr. Donnie Melton officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosenberg.

Mr. Geick died at 5:15 a.m. Monday in Hermann Hospital in Houston following a brief illness.

Born in Rosenberg in 1924 to Benjamin and Mathilda Geick, he grew up here, attended Rosenberg High School, and then entered the United States Army. He always prided himself that he served "in the regular old infantry." He served with the 29th Infantry division under General Patton. The division fought at Omaha Beach and across France to the Rhine River. He returned to New York in September 1945 and was later discharged at Fort Sam Houston at San Antonio.

He began his business career in his home town and during the course of the next 50 years devoted his time to Geick Auto Supply and most recently, Geick's Car Care Center. He also spent many hours in community service.

He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Rosenberg and held membership in Milton Brenner Post 3903, Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he is a life member; American Legion Post 271; Masonic Lodge 881, where he is a life member; and the Slavonic Lodge.

He is a charter member and executive board member of Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands, former director of the Rosenberg-Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce for six years, a former Rosenberg City Councilman, and served as mayor pro tem for two years. He worked with the Salvation Army for more than 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Judge Marvin Geick; and two sisters, Florence Caddel and Myrtle Wiseman.

His survivors include his two sons, Judge Gary A. Geick and wife, Sue, of Rosenberg and Terry Geick and wife, Harriett, of Richmond; granddaughters, Kathleen Geick-Wiederkehr and husband, Tom, and Kera and Krystle Geick of Rosenberg.

In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggests memorials be made in his name to the First Baptist Church of Rosenberg or a charity of choice.
