Clarence E Parks was the son of Grace Gatliff and Lorenza Dow Parks he was born on July 27, 1909 in Lancaster, KY. Clarence had 3 brothers, 4 sisters that lived, 2 sisters that passed away before he was born, 1 sister that died at 18 months old and 1 that died at 2 days old.
Clarence grew up in KY at the age of 10 his home was in Clayvillage, KY and finally in Georgetown, KY at the age of 20.
In June 1931 he graduated from Georgetown College (KY) and started as a teacher and football coach at Oakolona High School in September of 1931 where he earned $149.50 a month for the 9 month school year.
In 1933 he married Dorothy at the bride's mother's house in Louisville, KY. Clarence was 24 and Dorothy was 20.They settled in a small home just down the street.
He received his Masters Degree from the University of Louisville in 1939.
In 1942 he joined B. F. Goodrich as Chief Chemist. Clarence & Dorothy had two children Patricia and Jerry. They remained in Louisville until 1949.
In 1949 they relocated to Cleveland, Ohio area, first settling in Lakewood and then in Bay Village.
Clarence retired in 1974 after working for B. F. Goodrich for 32 years. After retirement they relocated to Florida.
While working for B. F. Goodrich Clarence held 15 patents and was the inventor of PVC piping.
Clarence and Dorothy were married for 52 years until Dorothy passed away on Aug 25, 1985 at the age of 72 in Tampa, FL.
Clarence passed away on Aug 2, 1987 at the age of 74 from a heart attack in Greensburg, KY.
