Mertis P. Hicks, 87 of Little Rock, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 at Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock. She was born October 10, 1922 near Arkadelphia, Arkansas; the daughter of E.A. Pennington and Martha Borland Pennington.
Mertis was retired from the Federal Home Loan Bank where she served as manager of the Collateral Division; she was a member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church, and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Hicks, her parents, six brothers, and one sister. Survivors include a son and daughter in law David and Virginia Hicks of Little Rock; two granddaughters Lisa Bevins and Lesli Lumpkin; one sister Maxine Byers of Buna, TX; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel in Little Rock. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
