Rex Henry Spaur was born on August 17, 1924 in Bussey, Iowa the son of Alex Spaur and Mary Bingham Spaur.

As a young man, Rex worked on his parents farm. He served in the Army Air Corps during W.W. II and attained the rank of Sergeant before he was honorably discharged.

Rex worked for T.W.A. for 38 years and traveled the world, he lived in many places, including Saudi Arabia, New York, and Kansas City. He retired in 1985. After he retired, he would transport cars for dealers, and fly home for free. On October 2, 1987 he was united in marriage to Helen "Pitt" Doyle and the couple has always made Knoxville their home.

Rex Passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2000 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 29 days. Rex had a good life, he got to see the world and made many friends along the way.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Rex Dennis Spaur: and two brothers: Todd & Ted Spaur.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of twelve years, Helen: daughter, Robyn Spaur-Clevenger and husband Gerald of Kansas City, Missouri: Grandson, Crusel Cavner; sister, Vera Marlin and brother, Bill Spaur both of Bussey; two step-daughters: Pam Rooney and husband Jerry, and Donna Temple and husband Melvin Sr., and a step-son, Rev. Don Edwards Jr. and wife Susan all of Knoxville; 7 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, at the Assembly of God Church in Knoxville, IA; burial in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Friends may call 9 a.m. Monday and the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. that evening, at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home.
