William B. Hale, 66, was the fourth son of Harry and Lucinda Hale. He married first Harriet Amelia Porter who died in 1882. On July 7, 1886, he married Mrs. Victoria Morris of Grassdale, VA. Two sons, children of his first wife survived him, Philip, an organist and music critic in Boston, MA and Rev. Edward Hale a graduate of Harvard and a Unitarian minister in East Orange, NJ.

The announcement of his death appeared in the December 3, 1892 edition of the Vermont Journal. It read: " The remains of William Bainbridge Hale, who died at Grassmere, Va., November 24th at the age of 66 years, were brought to Windsor for interment by the side of his wife in Ascutney Cemetery, on Monday. Among those accompanying the remains were his sons, Harvey of Elizabeth, N.Y., Edward of East Orange, N.J. and Philip of Boston, Mass., and Dr. Spaulding of Northampton, Mass."
