Jerome W. Cherney Sr., 62, of Menchalville, Rt. 2, Cato, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Saur Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider will officiate, with burial in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Cherney was born March 3, 1914, at Kellnersville, son of the late Charles and rose Zeman Cherney. He entered military service July 10, 1941, and was discharged Nov. 21, 1945, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1945. Mr. Cherney married Helen Sleger May 30, 1947. She preceded him in death Nov. 7, 1952. He married the
former Jean Perrodin July 24, 1954. They operated a farm at Menchalville and he was also employed at Brillion Iron Works for the past 14 years.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, Jerome Jr., and Mark, at home and Russell of Reedsville; two brothers, Joseph, of Manitowoc and Victor, of Brillion; two sisters,
Mrs. Clement (Mildred) Halbach, of Appleton and Mrs. A.J. (Grace) Sutherland, of Nashville, Tenn., and a granddaughter, Wendy Hansen. A son, Richard, a daughter,
Mrs. Audrey Hansen, an infant daughter, Mary Rose, and a brother, Charles, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, after 4 p.m. Tuesday, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m. by Msgr. Schneider.
