PIONEER RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH.

Mrs. Sarah Green, passed away at her home in Coggon, last Thursday evening after a brief illness, aged 83, and 14 days. In her death Linn county, loses a pioneer settler.
Sarah Anna Spurgeon was born in Ohio, Jan 11, 1834. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1836, and settled in Cedar County, later coming to Dubuque county.
In 1865, she came to Linn county, settling in what is now Coggon.
In 1860, she was united in marriage to Amos H Green, and to this union seven children were born, of which two survived - Amos Spurgeon Green, of Manchester, and Anna M Green of Coggon.
She is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Louisa Stewart of Manchester; Mrs. Persilla Sparks, Mrs. Savilla Sparks and Martha Spurgeon, all of Washington.
Mrs. Green, united with the Christian Church in early life and has always been a faithful member.
She was a charter member of the Coggon Church, and has lived in Iowa for 81 years.
The funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock, Rev. W. H. Smith officiating. Burial in the Coggon Cemetery.
