He was born March 17, 1944, in Zanesville, to Paul and Vioma (Fox) Lyons. Ron was a retired well tender with Columbia Gas, where he worked for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 199.
Ron was obsessed with the Ohio State Buckeyes, loved fishing, playing golf, and walking the beaches of South Carolina.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Lyons of Dover; a son, Jim Lyons; his significant other, Beverly Summerfield, and her daughter, Amanda; brothers, Paul (Sandy) Lyons and Larry Lyons; sisters, Donna Thompson, Janet (Darrell) Baney, Karen Lake, Marilyn Fletcher, Laura (Terry) Strouse, Darlene Leber, and Christina (Jim) Hunt; many grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Leona Erow; and an infant half-sister, Mary Lyons.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, on Thursday, with Pastor Sheila Kent officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Calling hours will be from 6-8 today at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with a Masonic service at 7:45.
