Victoria’s Oldest Resident Dies At Age 91.

Mr. Alois A. Sander, Victoria’s oldest resident passed away October 27, at St. Anthony’s Hospital at the age of 91. He was a retired farmer and stone mason.

Mr. Sander was born in Herzog, Russia and lived in this community since the age of 18 months.

His wife Clementine died in July, 1921.

He is survived by five daughters, Miss Genevieve Sander of the home, Mrs. Sophia Dreiling, Mrs. Adam (Barbara) Knoll, Victoria; Miss Lucina Sander, LaCrosse; Mrs. Eddie (Catherine) Herman, Utica, Ks.; three sons, Clem, Oakley; Sil A., Sacramento, California and Aloysius, Wichita. Two brothers, Frank C., Victoria; Leo, Topeka; three sisters, Miss Christina Sander, Victoria; Sister Georgine C.S.A., Wisconsin; Mrs. Barbara Rupp, Hays. Twenty nine grandchildren and thirty six great-grandchildren.

The D. of I. held prayer hour at 8:00 p.m. Friday at Cline’s Mortuary where the body lay in state until Saturday morning at 10:00. The Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Marian Gross, O.F.M. Cap. in St. Fidelis Church.

Pall bearers were Tom Dreiling, Jim Dreiling, Eddie Herman, Gary Herman, Terry Knoll and Larry Knoll.
