He was born on March 26, 1923 in Hilbert, son of the late Frank and Mary (Leitner) (sic) Bechlem.
He married Cyrilla Marie (Thiel) Voigt on Nov. 18, 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert and later farmed in the town of Chilton until 1955 when he sent to work for the Brillion Iron Works until retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran church in Chilton and was very active with many church organizations.
Survivors include his wife, Cyrilla; five children, Barbara (Larry) Van Dyke of Appleton, Delores Hughes of Appleton, Suzanne (George) Schroeder, of Appleton, Carol (Wayne) Olson of Hilbert, James Bechlem of Chilton; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two brothers, John (Emmy) Henschel of New Holstein; Bill (Charlotte) Bechlem of New Holstein; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella Raschke, Margie Te Vruche; two brothers, Eugene and Harvey Henschel.
Funeral services were held at St. Martin Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Huebner as officiant. Following cremation, his remains were entombed in Highland Memorial Park Mausoleum in Appleton,.
