Mrs. Amanda Callies was born at Newland on July 25, 1867, daughter of Julia and Henry Poynter. On April 27, 1888 she was married to William Callies and he preceded her in death in October 1932.
Amanda died Thursday night her home, aged 85 years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nellie A. Tabler, two sons, Arthur and Edgar Callies, and one sister, Mrs. Florence Buckley. - Sedalia Democrat - Friday, May 29, 1953 pg.4
