MATTHEW STEDL

Matt J. Stedl, 75, of Wayside, died Wednesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient 12 days. He was ill the past two months. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the village. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Stedl was born Oct. 17, 1882 in the Town of Franklin, son of the late Lawrence and Anna Kopidlansky Stedl. June 26, 1910 he married Annie Mancoske. They settled on a farm in the Town of Morrison. In 1934 they moved to the present home at Wayside.

In addition to farming, he was engaged as a carpenter for a few years, served as town supervisor of the Town of Morrison and as a member of the Riverside School Board for a number of years.

Mr. Stedl is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Matt Kubsch of Manitowoc, Mrs. Joseph Baumann of Denmark, Mrs. John Jagodzinsky of Milwaukee and Mrs. Orin Manteufel of Appleton; three sons, Leonard of Pulaski and John and Raymond of Wayside; two brothers, Joseph of Menchalville and Edward of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Ervin Nies and Mrs. John Ludwig of Manitowoc; 34 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A son, Ambrose was killed in action in France in 1944.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
