Meinhard was born Sept. 8, 1937, in the Town of Morrison to the late Rudolph and Hilda (Loppnow) Borchardt. He attended grade school at Zion Lutheran, Wayside, and graduated from Reedsville High School. He served his country with the United States Army Reserve.
Meinie married Carol Kasten at Wayside Zion Lutheran Church on April 29, 1961. Meinie was a dairy farmer, mechanic and later worked at Brillion Iron Works for 35 years. During his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time with his family and attending family sporting events. He enjoyed singing in the Wayside Zion Lutheran Church Choir and also at Wayside Parkview Estates, Odd Fellow Home and West Haven in Brillion. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Carol; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Theresa, Craig, Josh and special friend, Kathy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie and special friend, Ron, Lynne and Rob Knuth, Kelly and Kevin Burke; five granddaughters, Miranda Sendek, Morganne Sendek, Cassidy Burke, Camryn Burke and Caydance Rouleau; mother-in-law, Lydia Kasten; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert and Caroline, Norbert, Marvin and Elaine; sisters, Lorina Fels, Luella Miller, Bernadine Lemke and Esther Lemke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger and Marcia Kasten, Roy Kasten, Joy Brandt, Betty Krueger, Verna Borchardt, Alberta Borchardt, Dorothy and Ron Zenke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Malinda (Koch) Borchardt; father-in-law, Arthur Kasten; three brothers, Gilbert, Edward and Melvin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Meinie will be very sadly missed by all. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and neighbor. He was always there to lend a helping hand and offer a friendly word. He was a blessing to all who knew him.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, 8378 County Road W, Wayside Wis., from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 9 a.m. until time of service. Funeral service 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Steven Kline officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
