She was born on Asa's Creek, Johnson County, Kentucky. Her home was on the Mayo ancestral land adjacent the Mayo Cemetery on the right fork of Sherwood Drive off Spring Valley Drive in Wayne County, WV

Going south on U. S. 23 out of Louisa turn left and go past the Louisa Hospital. Continue and cross the river proceeding to the top of the Hill. On top, there is a dirt road that leads to the cemetery.
