Vera McCarty Ehrlich, 95, formerly of Tamarack House, a resident of Sunny Ridge Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for the last 2 ½ years, went home to be with her lord on Friday, May 14, 2004.

Vera was born on June 13, 1908, in the Town of Schleswig, to John and Elizabeth (Uhl) Rosenbauer.

On November 21, 1925, Vera and Milton McCarty were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1949.

On March 31, 1951, Vera and Gustav Ehrlich were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1969.

Vera was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Haven and continued attending church services at Tamarack and at Sunny ridge. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan and her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, gardening and traveling to the Grand Ole Opry. She was a good sheepshead and cribbage player and enjoyed socializing with her friends, but her family was her pleasure and the loving focus of her life.

Vera is survived by a daughter-in-law, June McCarty of Sheboygan; a sister, Helen Spannagle of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Linda Nowak, Dick (T.C.) McCarty, all of Sheboygan, Mark (Vernice) McCarty of Sanford, FL, Susie (Gary) Schmidt of Howards Grove, and Nancy (Jeff) Laven of Liberty, MO; great-grandchildren, Paula (John) Lefeber, Amy Nowak (special friend, Kevin Little), Peter McCarty, Sally McCarty, all of Sheboygan, Windy McCarty of Orlando, FL, Grace McCarty of Sanford, FL, Becky Schmidt of Howards Grove and Curt Laven of Liberty, MO; stepson, Leo (Carol) Ehrlich of Sheboygan Falls; stepdaughter, Delores Steindl (friend, Rudy Susen) of Shawano; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amy) Ehrlich of Cedarburg, Judi (friend, Chad Hartwick) of Sheboygan, Jill (Michael) Peters of Omro, Barbara (David) Schlehlein of Boulder City, NV, Gregory (Carol) Steindl of Oostburg, Renee (Lesley) Munnik of Wittenburg, WI, Thomas (Lisa) Steindl of Gibbsville and Jodi (Mike) Stubler of Boulder City, NV; step great-grandchildren, Leo, Fredrick and Joan Ehrlich, Jamie, Nicole and Katie Peters, Scott and Leah Schlehlein, Joseph Steindl, Becky, Lisa and Cherie Munnik, Travis and Kyle Steindl, Tia and Rory Stubler; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Alizae Steindl.

In addition to her husbands, Vera was preceded in death by her son, Larry McCarty; a great granddaughter, Brianna; five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2004 at Ballhorn Chapels. The Rev. Ron D. Pederson, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Haven, will officiate. Burial will take place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Vera will always be remembered for her spunky personality and the love she shared for her family. She will be sadly missed.
