BELVIDERE - Albert Blachford Jr., 80, of Belvidere, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005, in his home. Born Nov. 30, 1924, in Belvidere, the son of Albert and Daisy (Heywood) Blachford Sr. He attended Belvidere High School. Albert served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an X-ray technician in the Medical Corps while stationed in England. He married Eva L. Duke on May 6, 1947, in Belvidere. He ran a dairy farm until 1973, and then was the plant manager for Capron Manufacturing until his retirement in 1998. A member of the Capron American Legion Post and past president of the Capron School Board. Survivors include wife, Eva L. Blachford of Belvidere; son, Dale (Janice) Blachford of Godfrey; daughter, Judy E. (Daniel) Johnson of Ottumwa, Iowa; grandchildren, Eric (Becky) Blachford of Rockford, Stephen and Kelsey Jane Blachford of Belvidere, Johnathan and Michaela Blachford of Godfrey, Vanessa Gatones of Machesney Park, Jay (Carey) Liston of Knoxville, Iowa, Justin Liston of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jody (Jeff) Butler of Wiota, Iowa; brothers, Donald (Barb) Blachford of Belvidere and Bill (Velma) Blachford of Capron; sisters, Theo Hildebrand of Capron, Bernita Kays of Florida, Margaret Pinkerton of Michigan, Lorraine Blachford of Miller, S.D., and Alberta (Gerald) Bowen of De Forest, Wis. Preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, Jane Sullivan, Frances Blachford and Ely Blachford.
Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, in Belvidere Funeral Home, 203 Logan ave., with the Rev. Gary Elrod, pastor of Community of Christ Church, Rockford, officiating. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 23, in the funeral home. Interment in Highland Garden of Memories. A memorial is being established in his memory.
