Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 1993, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Robert Simensen will officiate, with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born December 12, 1919, in Manitowoc, son of the late Paul and Ida Gullickson Nelson. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1937. Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the Aleutian Islands, Pacific Theater, from 1942-1943, and in the European Theatre from 1943-1945. He married the former Ruth D. Weinert on May 10, 1947, in Manitowoc. He was employed as a traffic manager at the Mirro Company until his retirement in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth D. Nelson; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Dianne Nelson, Manitowoc, James and Mary Nelson, Two Rivers; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ivon Shanks, Rice Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Pape, Juneau, Mrs. Ethel Jacobs, Durham, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Cynthia Nelson, Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Jared, Tar, Keith, Eric, Laura and Jessica; one great granddaughter, Allysa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Nelson and two sisters, Esther Houghton, and Florence Breuer.
The family will greet relatives and friends following the services in the church fellowship hall. The Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
