Donald was the oldest son of Leo and Mary Affolter. He enlisted in the US Army on August 21, 1945 during WWII. After several failed marriages he married Evinia Z. Garcia in Nueces, Texas in 1979. They lived near the Johnson Ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was called "The Model T Ford man", because he found them in old barns and restored them.

At one time he had a radio and television repair shop in Port Washington, Ohio. He could build a radio from parts when he was a teenager.

OBITUARY;

LLANO,TEXAS: Donald E. Affolter, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at his residence. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Prima Iglesia Bautista Church in Fredericksburg. Arrangements are by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.

Donald had 3 daughters and 4 sons. He had 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
